Behind the wall of Fatimid Cairo, in an area called Gamaliya, the glassblowers of Cairo, Egypt create exquisite works of art. Each piece is individually mouth-blown of Pyrex glass, colored and has 18 kt. Gold accents applied. Glass art (bottles, plates and jewelry) have been found as early as the New Kingdom (1550-1070 BC) in ancient Egypt. Because of its handmade quality each piece is unique and maybe slightly different to the next. No one is alike.
